Creative Writing Workshop: I Am - Exploring the Self Through Poetry

$10.00

Naming has always been an act of power — a declaration of being against erasure. I Am Whatever I Say I Am is a generative poetry workshop that invites writers to explore the self as arrival and divine. Together, we’ll trace the ways identity is shaped by memory, movement, language, and the sacred work of self-definition.

Through the lens of diasporic poetics, we’ll study how Black writers and thinkers have used verse as a site of liberation — to rename themselves, reclaim their narratives, and resist the confines of imposed identities. Participants will engage in guided writing prompts and reflection that center affirmation, ancestry, and imagination as tools for self-understanding.

This is your story.

This workshop is an offering for those who carry many names, tongues, and homes within them. Whether you are searching for language to name your becoming or to remember who you’ve always been, this space welcomes you. Together, we will write toward wholeness — crafting poems that speak truth to the many selves we hold and the freedom we are still creating.
